Is Gabe saying zip-a-dee-hoo-hah? I love it! They are such performers. Sofia definitely has the cheese factor going on. I wonder where she gets it from?! ;)

Karli - December 16, 2011 - 1:44 pm

hahaha, it’s like a cross between Zip-ah-dee-doo-dah and the song that never ends!!! SO VERY AWESOMELY CUTE!

Kara - December 17, 2011 - 12:24 pm

Yes, Adrienne you heard correctly :). No idea where the cheesiness comes from.
Karli,
I wonder how long it would have gone on if Chris wouldn’t have intervened :)

Cousin and Updates

The kids had fun playing with their cousin Jackson at Finley Wildlife Refuge. Jackson lives in Virginia, so we only get to see him when he visits during the summer. Gabe’s looking a little skeptical like he isn’t quite sure if he wants to join in. I love how kids love playing the universal “I […]

My kids are so sweet! I love spending time with them too.

Amanda N. - July 16, 2011 - 9:11 pm

That is adorable! I’m glad that Sofia can feed Miriam with out choking her. Ha ha. ok…so, we need to talk soon. And a real talk…not when the kids are screaming in the background. xoxo.

I love clifford, the big red dog!!!

Gabe was not in the mood to have his picture taken (he usually isn’t for the record), so I hurried and snapped these picture of him. Had to add the next pic so you can see  his costume with the hat. Gabe was so excited when I found this Clifford costume for him at a […]

Betty is my only child old enough to have an opinion about this so far and the only thing she asks to wear in this way are tutus. Specifically two pink tutus over leggings. I don’t mind her wear them so much except that the one is torn a little. I get her to take them off if we go our though, partly because of how they look, but also because I can’t buckle her car seat easily with them on. In fact, she is wearing them today.

Sonia - June 28, 2011 - 8:29 am

I LOVE it when I see a creatively dressed little one out and about. It always makes me smile! I love that the parent is allowing the child to independently express him/herself. My little lady is just 18 mo and I’ve started letting her choose some of her clothes, and it’s created some pretty funky getups!

Katrina - June 28, 2011 - 9:06 am

If Lizzy is willing to dress herself, I don’t care what she wears. This morning she pulled out a pair of pants that are too short and a long sleeved shirt. I suggested she pick out pants that fit and a shirt that would be more comfortable, but she refused, and I am okay with that. As long as she’s modest and picks her clothes from the drawer instead of the dirty clothes hamper.

Kara Jimenez - June 28, 2011 - 12:00 pm

I generally let my kids go out in whatever clothes they want. Victor has left the house several times dressed as superman and once in footsie pajamas and boots. I’ve never heard anyone say anything bad about it but I have seen people point at him and say “how cute!”

I do insist that they wear clean clothes.

adrienne w - June 28, 2011 - 2:51 pm

Having 3 girls and only 1 boy, you’d think we’d have a lot of clothes drama, but the only one who really cares about what is worn is Thatcher! He’s a little bit of a fashionista. Like his dad. He likes to make sure everything matches, though he hasn’t quite got the idea that busy and busy don’t go well together. In general though, he’s pretty good at it. Macartney is all about comfort (like her mom!) and hates to wear jeans. She sometimes says “I’m going to go pick out my clothes and don’t be mad about what I pick.” I don’t actually get mad, but sometimes I try to get her to wear clothes that match to school. And I sometimes insist on clothes being weather appropriate (like no shorts when it’s below freezing). They also all have to wear appropriate clothes to church. Which church clothes they pick is fine, but it has to be church clothes. So far my kids aren’t very adventurous with their fashion, but I’m sure they will be. I don’t care what other parents think. I think that you can spot the kids whose parents DO care and they look cute, but not always practical for playing in the dirt.

juliette - June 28, 2011 - 8:05 pm

Cute! One of my cousins I used to babysit wore nothing but bathing suits morning, noon and night for almost the whole time she was two. Lucky she was raised in Florida; that would be a fight here. Nobody did anything to stop her and I guess you could say she turned out fine. I don’t care what my kids wear, as you can tell by looking at them, and hideous items, like some powder blue sweats with holes in them that Trevor insisted on wearing, mysteriously disappear.

Wendy M - June 28, 2011 - 8:38 pm

Allison has the same Clifford costume…we should get a pic of them together in their matching costumes!
My rule for my kids is they can pretty much wear anything around the house (or just wear underwear, which is what they usually prefer!) When we go somewhere, they have to wear something from their “good clothes” drawer (unless it’s the park or somewhere that is dirty.) I struggle with Brenden wanting to wear the exact same clothes all the time (I guess I shouldn’t do the laundry every day and he wouldn’t have that option!) Overall, though, I’d say I’ve relaxed about quite a bit…look around Corvallis and you can tell most people really don’t care. :-)

kara - June 28, 2011 - 8:49 pm

Emma,
I like the rule that if you can’t buckle your carseat with the outfit, then you can’t wear it out :).
Sonia,
So I guess you probably weren’t the one making that rude comment that my friend overheard :)??
Katrina,
You are very chill, so this doesn’t surprise me. I like the clean clothes rule Katrina and Kara.
Adrienne,
Gabe is definitely the one to be more particular too. I can’t wait until he fits into Denver’s leather pants someday :)
Juliette,
I don’t know why but your “I guess she turned out fine,” made me laugh. I wonder if that is what people say about me :)
Wendy,
I agree that most people around here wouldn’t turn a head.

Michelle - June 29, 2011 - 10:55 am

My 2-yr-old niece has sometimes worn a dragon costume around town for the day. I think it’s really cute :)

Sunny - June 29, 2011 - 3:29 pm

I think if you are just running around town it is fine. We set limits for certain places: school, church, events, etc. This is most important for shoes ie. no dress up shoes to the park. If it is weather appropriate and reasonably clean I usually let it go. Tim let Liam wear a bunny costume to church once in exchange for Liam going to the nursery.

Gabe

Gabe and his dirty little feet. Gabe loves running around barefoot. Gabe made a card for Chris the other day and wanted to “read” what it said to me. He said, “Dear Daddy, I love when you push me on the swing, turn on shows for me, and play with me all of the time.” […]

Chubby Love

I dare you to try to look at these pictures and not smile. I think it is nearly impossible. Can you even stand how precious she is? A big prize for the person who can correctly count the number of rolls on that baby stomach. People are always shocked when they find out how […]

Sam - May 31, 2011 - 6:03 am

is that velcro on those cloth diapers? did you make them? if so I have a few questions for you. :)

kara - May 31, 2011 - 7:27 am

It is velcro. I didn’t make these, but my friend and I made some like them (Okay… I actually did the cutting, and she did the sewing). I am not a seamstress, but they were really easy for her. I think she actually modeled them after the Happy Heiny cloth diapers.

Missy - May 31, 2011 - 7:49 am

Oh my goodness. LOVE the rolls and all the slobber! What a (big) doll!

Amanda O. - May 31, 2011 - 10:29 am

Yep, she is Grayson’s perfect match… We need to have a playdate soon :)

adrienne w - May 31, 2011 - 1:46 pm

Those are adorable rolls! It’s so funny because Geneva is our chunkiest baby as well, but that’s not saying much for our kids. She doesn’t compare to Miriam’s chunkification! All of Geneva’s rolls are in her diaper, which is adorable in it’s own way. She’s our first baby to actually be in the size of clothes to match her age! And she’s only 5 pounds less than Vienna who will be 3 in a month!
I love to squish the chubby babies, because I haven’t had any of those. But I love to snuggle my skinny, little, busy babies just as much!

Jeanette - May 31, 2011 - 2:53 pm

What a kid and totally kissable! Amazing pictures, thanks for sharing your cutie! Love and miss you tons.

carolina amador - May 31, 2011 - 9:01 pm

Dude, I love that she has boobies!

kara - May 31, 2011 - 10:29 pm

Missy,
Yes, she is a cute slobbery little thing.
Amanda,
Does Grayson like curvy women :)?
Adrienne, glad you get to experience 1 chubby baby. I don’t think I produce skinny babies, so I am afraid chubby will be all that I know, but your babies are cuties as well :).
Jenny,
Miss you too!!
Carolina,
She totally has little boobies.

betsy - May 31, 2011 - 11:18 pm

I love chunky babies. Cute, cute baby!

Adrienne S - June 1, 2011 - 7:58 am

I am going through withdrawls looking at these!
