Black and White

I think when it comes to discussing most issues, there often times isn’t a black and white. There is usually a story to be presented on each side, and neither side is usually 100% right or wrong. Welcome to me and politics. For many issues, I can usually see where each side is coming from, […]

I love when you are random!! Okay, so I’m kind of neutral on Napoleon Dynamite, believe it or not. The first time I watched it, I was confused. I wasn’t sure what to expect. By the end of it, I thought it was hilarious, so watching it again, I laughed a lot. I think it’s a very funny movie, but I wouldn’t watch it over and over. I’m not sure how I feel about popcorn Jelly Bellys, but I don’t love them. I HATE Moulin Rouge. I love musicals and I love quirky, but I HATE that movie. I like some of the music, but it makes me nauseous to watch it. I’m not a Nicole Kidman fan, especially her singing! And I can’t get over the fact that she’s essentially a prostitute in it. I have a hard time wrapping my head around prostitute love stories…

Adrienne, I couldn’t watch Napolean Dynamite over and over, but I could definitely watch it again and laugh. I’m not really into watching any movies over over again though. I am actually really surprised that you don’t like Moulin Rouge. I would have guessed that you would have like it! Not for the prostitute story but for the music. Did you like Ewan McGregor?

Well, I have never seen Napoleon Dynamite so I might just have to watch it. I love Dumb and Dumber and Tommy Boy is it anything like those? I am actually neutral on the popcorn Jelly Bellies, I don’t think I like them but I love candy so I am willing to eat them, wow that’s pathetic! And I haven’t seen Moulin Rouge so I can’t answer that one either. How about black licorice, I think it’s a pretty black and white issue. I do not like it!

kara - May 13, 2011 - 11:50 am

See… I wasn’t a huge dumb and dumber fan, but I want to know what you think Angie. Please watch both movies!! Oh, and the licorice one is so true too. I love black licorice!

I will add a few things I can think of that seem black or white
-Will Ferrell or Adam Sandler movies
-the color orange
-peppermint ice cream

(I happen to love all of these, but know many people who vehemently disagree with me! :-)

Ohhh I like this post!! here are my thought:

1.Napolean Dynomite-Liked this movie, but can only watch it like two times a year. kinda anoying after that.

2.LOVE LOVE LOVE these jelly bellies! But love the pear ones more. (the pear are also an either love them or hate them item)

3. LOVED this movie!!! I agree, some parts made me a little sea sick the way they filmed it, but I love the quirkyness and the music.

**some other items of love or hate-
-white and dark chocolate (Ilove both)
-Rubarb (fabulous in a strawberry pie)
– and playing the board game Risk (would rather pull all my hair out)

I don’t like Adam Sandler or Will Ferrell movies. I like Will back in his snl days… but his movies are over the top for me. I like the color orange and peppermint ice cream (Chris really dislikes it).
Jaime,
I like white and dark chocolate. I love rhubarb, and I am not a big board game fan in general, which means I would probably not love Risk.

This randomness is exactly what I need at midnight on a Sunday when I should be in bed. DID NOT like Napoleon Dynamite at all when I first saw it, but saw it again…and maybe 1 or 2x since and have grown fond of it. But in keeping with the movie genre — hate hate hate Chris Farley…and David Spade for that matter and any movie they have been in…especially together. Chris Farley is only funny because he’s fat. He’s no Sinbad, that’s for sure. And I absolutely LOVE Moulin Rouge! It’s one of my top 3 all time favorites and I could watch it over and over again.

Now to food. I am not a jelly bean fan to begin with. I mean really, what is the point of candy if there is no chocolate in it. And candy that tastes like popcorn sounds disgusting…although I can’t vouch for it since I’ve never had them. And I used to hate dark chocolate, but it’s actually grown on me too…but I do not like white chocolate at all except under one condition…with macadamia nuts in a cookie.

Napoleon Dynamite-LOVE it!
What about cilantro?

Jill - May 15, 2011 - 8:55 am

I didn’t like Napoleon Dynamite the first time I saw it. The second time was much better. Not crazy about popcorn flavored jellybeans. Moulin Rouge was just okay for me. Orange is one of my favorite colors! I don’t like Risk, but I love to play board games. What about cottage cheese…I know allot of people hate it…I love it especially with tomatoes, peaches, pineapple…

kara - May 15, 2011 - 2:09 pm

Are there people who really dislike cilantro??? I love it! I also love cottage cheese with fruit!

kara - May 15, 2011 - 2:10 pm

Oh and Amanda,
I am not a Chris Farley fan or David Spade.

Rachel - May 16, 2011 - 8:15 pm

How about The Royal Tenenbaums? That is my movie litmus test. If you loved it, then I will take your recommendations on movies. If you hated it, I will only smile and nod when you tell me to watch something.

Kara - May 16, 2011 - 11:12 pm

Rachel,
I have never seen that movie, but I will have to watch it and let you know what I think!
