The Best Birthday Ever

I am usually not a huge birthday person. It usually doesn’t take much for me to have a good day on my birthday. As long as I have a good time with my fam and get to do fun things with them, I am usually good. Though I’m not one to have super high standards […]

Travel Tunes

This has been a month of family, travel, exhaustion, and fun. I will jump back on the blogging band wagon more in a week or so, but I was just wondering who people listen to on their ipods in their cars when they travel. My music on my playlists varies a lot, but  on any […]

I’ve listened to more Little Mermaid than I care to this summer, but other than that…my kids like rolling in the deep as well. And that song that says, “tonight, tonight….something, something all over the world” — maybe? I’m not good with lyrics. Can’t think of any others at the moment.

Our travel music always includes a bit of everything. Usually U2 and Depeche Mode, the Beatles (which was our traveling music growing up), plenty of various country music, Les Miserables, sometimes Peter, Paul and Mary and Neil Diamond (which was Denver’s family’s traveling music growing up)and a little random Hip Hop and R&B. The kids often pick the Mamma Mia and Hairspray soundtracks. If I’m driving, I have to be able to sing along.

kara - August 31, 2011 - 8:11 am

Do you sing a long to the little mermaid?
Nice mix… it would make sense that you would have an eclectic mix as well. I would listen to all of that music as well!

Lake of the Woods Family Reunion-2011

We had an amazing time at staying in cabins at Lake of the Woods for the Edgar/Olsen reunion. Here are a few of the highlights: Scott and Connor sword fighting at the talent show. I spent a lot of time holding this sweet gal. She pretty much wants her mama all of the time. […]

Were you guys at Camp Esther Applegate? I’d heard you guys were at Lake of the Woods and actually wondered if I’d run into you since my family was camping up there for the weekend.

juliette - August 24, 2011 - 1:12 am

It looks beautiful there! I must go.
Will you please adopt me as a cousin so I can join your zany crew? I have lots of cousins but they mostly live in Florida. Nobody really camps in Florida.

Sam - August 24, 2011 - 6:49 am

Man I miss you guys. We will DEFINITELY have to make a trip up there next summer. Love you and miss you.

Mondisa - August 24, 2011 - 8:33 am

Shelli - August 24, 2011 - 12:41 pm

This makes me miss you all already!! What great photos!!!! So much fun!!!!

kara - August 24, 2011 - 5:17 pm

Amber, we were at Camp Esther Applegate. You guys should have joined us and used the canoes!!
You can join our zany crew. What’s 4 more people when you have almost 50??
It would be so awesome if you guys could do that next year if we can get reservations to the camp.
It was the funnest trip of the summer for sure.
So glad you guys made the effort to come. Love you guys!~

Amber S. - August 24, 2011 - 9:12 pm

We rented one of those little fishing boats on Saturday, and we drove by Camp Esther Applegate (for nostalgia’s sake), but even though we saw life jackets and six canoes out, it was like a ghost town. It would’ve been so fun to see all of you!

pam - August 25, 2011 - 4:36 pm

The pictures are reflective of a great time with people we love. Mom

Wendy M. - August 25, 2011 - 9:13 pm

pam - August 27, 2011 - 8:32 pm

It was great to have you all there. Its great to see our kids and grandkids have so much fun together and the Edgars are apart of this wonderful family. Thanks for all that each of you did to make this such a fun time for all. We love you Dad

Family Pictures

Last week we were able to spend some time in  K-Falls.  We thought we would have Chris’ dad take some pictures of our family together, and Chris was able to take some cute individual pics as well. These pictures make me smile! Thanks to both of our families for a great time!

Too cute! I bet it’s nice for a photographer to have a photographer dad to take a few photos once in a while.

kara - July 31, 2011 - 10:07 pm

It is nice!! Haaa… and even better to have my adorable mother-in-law in the background doing funny things to make us laugh.

adrienne w - July 31, 2011 - 10:29 pm

I was wondering who was so funny to get such awesome smiles out of ALL of you!! Great pictures! Sofia has your cheesball grin! And Gabe looks so much like Chris. Miriam just looks a little overwhelmed by it all. In a few pictures she looks like she’s thinking “My family is so crazy! What did a get myself into?” What a beautiful family.

Amanda N - August 1, 2011 - 12:44 am

Your hair looks awesome! Did you just get it re-done?

kara - August 1, 2011 - 5:11 pm

Miriam will be crazy soon enough with the rest of us :). It’s in her genes.
Yep, got my haircut in k-falls…I found a person that I really like!

kelsey - August 1, 2011 - 7:59 pm

I LOVE this post!

Camille - August 2, 2011 - 9:00 am

Looks like you blog header may need an update.

Gabe worked so hard picking berries. He seriously probably picked as much as some adults would. Miriam is never one to turn down the chance to smile for her daddy.  We went blueberry picking for the first time this season last Saturday and had a grand old time. Last summer we bought a little chest […]

Oh, I love Blueberries for Sal! Also, One Morning in Maine by the same author is one of my childhood favourites. Aaahh, blueberry picking with the Becerras! Do you remember when we did that 5 years ago when Macartney and Sofia were babies? And Denver picked 10 pounds of blueberries because they were $1 a pound, even though he doesn’t even like blueberries? He couldn’t pass up a good deal like that. I think of that every time I buy blueberries and have to pay 5 times that for them!

EmmaJ - July 22, 2011 - 10:44 am

Blueberries for Sal is always checked out of our library and they have 5 copies. It took 2 months before we could check it out.

Katrina - July 22, 2011 - 1:45 pm

Such a pretty baby!

juliette - July 22, 2011 - 2:55 pm

Let’s pick together soon! I have a freezer to fill and you’re welcome to some space for overflow, we never seem to fill it up. Or perhaps we could trade freezers?

Kara - July 22, 2011 - 5:00 pm

Going to have to check out “One Morning in Maine” Wish I could send you some!!
Had no idea it was such a popular book. It is a book I should probably just add to our collection!
Remind me again of when your baby is due. Let’s throw you a baby shower!!
Oooh.. I like either of those ideas (trading/or leasing out space)… let’s chat more. Yes, let’s pick. I plan on picking at least once a week until they are out!
