Gabe

When my dad was here last week visiting, he commented on how much Gabe is maturing. Gabe really has matured and seems so big now.  Here is what Gabe is up to.

*He switched preschools so that Chris can drop him off at the preschool at CHS right when he goes to work. It is super convenient, and Gabe is so happy. The first day that I picked him up, he enthusiastically told me, “I love love love my new preschool.” I am so happy that he has had a smooth transition.

*Gabe does things in his own way in his own time. He has been riding his strider bike competently for a long time, so we suggested that he ride his regular two wheeler bike now. He has resisted and not wanted to try at all, so after suggesting this a few times, we finally just dropped it. The other day Chris was outside working and Gabe announced, “Daddy, I want to ride my bike.” He hopped on his bike, Chris gave him a push, and he was off. It was a good reminder to me of how Gabe operates, and how it is important to let  him take initiative and make decisions when at all possible.

*Gabe used to throw major tantrums over t.v. or pbs kids.org almost every day. We are usually pretty consistent about what times of the day he gets media and how much, but even though he knows the fun will end every day, he usually would cry/whine tantrum when his time was up. I have gotten a lot more strict about media use in the  house (and cut a lot of it), and it is definitely paying off. Gabe’s whining and tantrums have gone down a ton.

*Gabe is constantly trying to use his intellect to persuade me. The other day he said, “Mama, can we get a dalmation?” I told him that we most likely would not be getting a dalmation to which he responded with: “Don’t worry mama, we shouldn’t get 101 dalmations, how about just 2?” Two would be much easier than 101, I think that we will still pass.

*Gabe must be going through a growth spurt, because he is always hungry.

*Gabe is still an intense little dude who keeps us on our toes all of the time, but our family wouldn’t be the  same without him. I love how unique each kid is!

I love the updates! It’s so nice to some out on the other side of some stages in parenting! It’s so rewarding. I agree with Gabe- you don’t need 101 dalmations!

Kelsey,
If we get some, we will be sure to send some your way :).
Adrienne,
It is so nice to be at a more chill stage with him right now. It may not last long, so I will get some rest and enjoy :)
