Something in the air

My kids have been naughty today. And whiny. Like really really whiny. I am about to tell my kids that  every time I hear them say the word bored or boring, I am taking a toy away from them. Is that psycho? That is how I feel today. Psycho. I need some new tools in my parenting toolbox to bust out on days like this. The best thing I could think of to say today was (in the most serious and intense voice I could make and my finger waving at them), “Trust me guys, you do not want to mess with me today!!” Apparently they weren’t scared, because they still messed with me, and it hasn’t been a pretty day.

I talked to a couple of friends on the phone today, and they said that their kids were exceptionally whiny today as well. Was today “Drive your parents nuts day” today and none of us knew about it? Were your kids whiny today? How do you get through your days when it seems like everyone woke up on the wrong side of the bed? Tomorrow will be better. I am off to read a book and relax, because, yes, I put my kids in their bedrooms tonight before 7:00.

Someone should have totally given us parents the memo – mine was pushing my buttons too! She didn’t take a nap today so that was our biggest problem but boy did I lose my cool a couple times. I heard, “Mom you are too bossy” one too many times.

Yup. That was the day Mia had pooped in her pants twice and peed in them 4 times by 11 am…it was a rough start.

Think of the weather, it’s Spring in Oregon and cabin fever starts to set in. Your best tool is get everyone outside (rain or shine) and run around, you included. It sure helped Garrett Saturday!
