Miriam Update

Tickle. tickle!

Oh this little girl just brings so much joy to my life right now. I have to admit that there are parts of the toddler stage that I am not a big fan of, but there is also no stage that is cuter. Here is a little bit of what Miriam has been up to:

  • Miriam is 19 months old now, and I quit nursing her around 3 months ago. Since she is most likely my last, I thought that I would nurse her the longest, but I was starting to feel really unhappy with nursing. She up to that point was already so incredibly clingy, that I felt a little overwhelmed by it all. It was a little sad at the time, but we are all happy now.
  • Miriam has the best sense of humor. She will do anything for a laugh. A dance, running around in circle, repeating cute phrases over and over.
  • The kids have started calling her Mimi, and it is kind of sticking. We still call her Miriam most of the time, but I think that the nickname may be sticking, at least for now.
  • Everyone in our family dotes on Miriam. When the kids were at the playground the other day, all of the kids at the playground made a game of being a mother to Miriam. One of the girls told Sofia and Gabe, “I wish I had a cute little sister like her.” Sofia and Gabe’s faces just beamed with pride for their sister. It was just so tender.
  • Miriam is saying new words and phrases each day. She says “Tank You”, “I wuv U” and many other cute things that only we probably understand.
  • Miriam is a good eater and has been living off of figs and blueberries during the last month.
  • Miriam started nursery at church a month ago, and she has been our first kid to actually stay and be left without major upset and tears.
  • Miriam is in the 99th percentile for height.  A few weeks ago I was wearing her on my back in the Ergo, and an acquaintance  came up and started chatting with me and asked me if Miriam was about 3. Um….let’s try 36 months divided by 2 :).

That’s all I can think of for now.
