Blast From the Past–Happy 30th Jenny Pine!!!

I thought that it would be fun to do a series once a week where I post a picture memory from my past. Since my bff from growing up just turned 30 yesterday, I thought that it would be fun to celebrate her on this fine Monday :). Those of you who know me from growing up, know that I spent most of childhood growing up with Jenny Pine. We did most of the same activities together and were always together from the third grade on. I still have such a special place in my heart for my dear friend and her family. As I was looking through some pictures tonight of our many memories together, I smiled so much remembering so many of my happy memories from growing up with Jenny. Sorry to start off your new decade with a little bit of embarrassment my friend, but I just couldn’t resist. These pictures just made me smile remembering what silly girls we were (were as in past tense, because we are both totally serious and mature now:)).

So here is the story behind this ugly dress. Jenny and I liked to get each other Christmas presents. Since I had little money to get her presents, I was so proud of myself the year I found her this dress at an outlet for super cheap for Christmas. I honestly don’t think I paid much thought to whether or not the dress was cute, because the price was right baby, and that is all that really mattered, because I was going to be able to buy my friend her very own dress. How cool would that be? Judging from the look on her face, not so cool. Years after I gave her the dress, I was at her house and found this picture. I had had no idea that she thought the dress was ugly until I saw her reaction in this picture :).

I believe it was the same year that Jenny gifted me this stylish sweatshirt for Christmas :). Although this sweatshirt is as dorky/ if not more dorky than the dress I gave her, I wore this sweatshirt proudly as you can see. Nothing says style like a little girl in a weird hippie hat with a Charlie Brown sweatshirt :). Did you all go through a phase where you tried to look like a model in all of your pictures? Perhaps some of you succeeded better than me :).

Here we are all smiles after a Cross Country meet our senior year. I have no idea of how I did in that race, but I’m sure that I was excited to ride home with Jenny:)

This picture was taken just last summer at the country fair the day the day before her wedding. Her wedding was absolutely beautiful and she couldn’t have married a nicer guy (which makes sense since she is pretty much awesome).

To Jenny on her Birthday,
Thank you for all of the wonderful memories. Even though we don’t see each other often any more, I love how we can just pick up where we left off whenever we do see each other. I love how I skipped through many of the hard times that teenagers have, because I had a friend who I could be myself around regardless of what everyone else was doing at the time. I just pray that my daughters will be as lucky as I was to find a friend like you. You make such a difference to your friends and family and the students who you teach. You are a gift to this world! Happy birthday dear friend!!

Ok, I’m totally blaming hormones for the tears that are on my cheeks after reading this post. Sniff, Sniff. You guys are too cool and just wondering how we all got to be 30?

Angie,
It is nice to be able to blame pretty much everything on hormones. 30 is the new 20, so we are just babies :)!

Kara Lynn,
I love you! Thanks for the kind words and I can’t express how lucky I am to have a friend like you. You are an amazing woman and I am forever blessed to know you, thank for always being you and doing it so perfectly. Think of you always. Love and miss you!
Be well, Jenn

P.S- Just for the record, I truly liked that dress, I remember it well and wore on numerous occasions (mostly in Ashland). I do believe I was responding to a Sandy Pine comment as the picture was being snapped and defending how COOL and HIP it was. Love ya! How’d you get that photo anyway??! =)

The question is if you would wear that dress if I gave it to you in adult size this coming Christmas :). Can’t wait to see you!

kara - April 11, 2011 - 9:49 pm

OH, I must have just taken it from your house.. but I have no idea.

Happy Birthday Jenny! I know this is a little off subject Kara, but I would like to see a side-by-side of the picture of you in the Charlie Brown sweater and Sofia’s current picture. It is crazy how alike you look!!

Reading this actually makes me sad, but I’m glad you had each other.

Kara, you look the SAME now as you did then, but with a tad more Sofia in there!
