10 by Memorial Day Challenge Review!!!

Today is Memorial Day, and that means that it is time to review how I did with my goal of losing 10 pounds. Drum roll please…… I have lost a solid 7 pounds since starting the challenge. Yes, I realize that I am 3 pounds from my goal, but I am still happy.  7 pounds puts me on the right path to where I need to be, so it’s all good. I mentioned in a previous post that I have the nursing advantage. Because that alone never really helps me to lose much weight, I have ben exercising a lot more, and I think that this has been the key for me. I have been waking up early to walk with my friend Sara, and then I have trying to fit in a couple of runs each week with girlfriends.

The fact that it is sunny when I wake up early makes it so much less painful to get outside. Waking up in the pitch black winter is just depressing, and I feel like we all should be taking advantage of these summer months to either exercise in the morning or after kids go do bed. No excuses ladies!! Have any of you found more motivation to exercise now that summer is coming? How have you all been doing with your goals? What are your struggles? I still feel entitled like I deserve to eat dessert whenever I feel like it. I think that when berries are ripe in the summer, that my help curb my craving for desserts… although strawberry shortcake and raspberry cobbler are sounding pretty good as well :). Wherever you are in your goals, I hope that you are feeling encouraged to make small (or big) changes. I feel kind of like a hypocrite giving a big rah rah pep talk as I know that I still have a long way to go to break some bad habits and become a healthier person, but I think that it is so great when we can all support each other in our goals.  What we are trying to accomplish is so much more about adopting a healthy lifestyle than it is about obsessing over numbers. Here’s to a healthy and fun summer!

Ha! I was thinking about this just 2 days ago (the day before Memorial Day), and for some reason, thinking I still had some time to lose a few more pounds. D’oh! I think I lost 5. Maybe 6. Thanks for the challenge. I wasn’t very good about avoiding the sweets – that’s always my downfall. And I haven’t been very good about exercising the last couple of weeks. I think it’s good to set goals with deadlines though because just a goal of “I want to lose 10 pounds” doesn’t really stick with you (me) unless there’s a date by which you want to lose it.
Good for you, on the 7 pounds! And you looked totally great at the open house. I would have guessed way more than 7. You must be building back some muscle with all that walking and running. :)

I never got past that first 3 pounds. :( But, at least I didn’t gain! I am on week 2 of the Couch to 5K so we’ll if that has any impact. Not feeling too good about myself these days. I am hoping the new hair will change my perspective.

Good job on 5 Missy!! Sweets are my weakness as well. This is said as I just finished my ice cream :).
Rachel,
I totally get that at times, not gaining can be a success! You are awesome, and I have a good feeling about what you will accomplish this summer!
